Kerr Scout Ranch at Slippery Falls offers the best in merit badges, activities, competitions, and adventure. There is something for every new Boy Scout, experienced Boy Scouts, and Venturers. There are plenty of trails to hike, fish to catch, and campfires to build. Each camper will have plenty of opportunities to earn badges and awards, but Slippery Falls is also a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Every Scout wants a great summer camp experience, and the staff at Kerr Scout Ranch is here to deliver that promise to you! Live outdoors for a week under the shade of our oak trees, climb on some of the oldest granite boulders in the world, and swim in the cool, spring fed waters of Pennington Creek and Lake Payne.
For the first time, the National BSA is allowing older Boy Scouts and Venturers to fire single-action revolvers, single-action repeating rifles, and stagecoach shotguns. The Cowboy Action Shooting Range will see more improvements for this summer, and feature a shooting gallery and challenging western scenarios.
All participating Scouts and Venturers MUST bring a completed Parent Permission form with them to camp.
In the Technology Center, Scouts will learn how to create animations; the ways in which animation is used and experienced not only in cartoons and movies, but also in everyday life; and the fun and exciting career opportunities in animation.
Offering the Scouting Heritage merit badge is a great way to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of camp. Scout will learn about the history and heritage of Scouting. Play old-time Scout games, see interesting collectibles, and deepen your understanding of the worldwide youth movement of Scouting. Prepare items in requirements 4, 5 & 6 prior to camp.
Cooking is an Eagle-required merit badge, and Fire Safety goes right along with it. Instruction time is during session 3, over lunch, and during session 4. Scouts will learn the cooking skills outlined in requirements 1-5 and prepare the camping meals for requirement 6. Scouts will eat lunch at the Ranch house each day and help prepare the leader dinner on Thursday night. Scouts are encouraged to prepare the Wednesday troop dinner in their own troops. Fire Safety will cover all requirements except a visit to a fire station.
